Crìa Technologies is a Geneva-based and CSEM spin out startup addressing one of the most persistent logistical challenges in the life sciences: the safe, cost-efficient transport of fragile biological materials that require precise temperature control.
The company has developed the world’s first portable device capable of operating across a temperature range from +8°C to -196°C. Through a user-selected coolant system, the solution adapts to the specific requirements of each shipment, enabling cost-efficient logistics at a scale previously unavailable to the sector. At the heart of the technology lies a vacuum thermal insulation system that uses the same technologies employed by frontier particle accelerators such as those at CERN. This patented innovation promises real-world impact across a range of applications, including the delivery of vaccines to remote and underserved areas.
Led by a team of three engineers and a physicist from CERN, Crìa Technologies has already established an exceptional track record in 2026. The startup has been selected as a winner or a finalist in four prestigious competitions: the De Vigier Award, Prix Strategis, the Venture Startup Competition, and MassChallenge, reflecting both the scientific credibility and the commercial potential of its approach.
The FIF Seed Tech funding will support Crìa Technologies’ market launch and enable targeted R&D hiring to accelerate the company’s growth.
