Carewell Raises CHF 1.5 million to Revolutionise Shift Cover Management in the Healthcare Sector

The start-up has just completed a CHF 1.5 million funding round, led by Lucian Wagner for StartAngels Network, with participation from SICTIC, Kickfund and several business angels. These funds will accelerate the roll-out of a platform already adopted by more than 50 healthcare institutions across Switzerland.
In hospitals, care homes and clinics, even the most well-coordinated teams often find themselves in difficulty – not because of a lack of skills, but because of a lack of available cover staff at the right time. It is precisely this structural problem — chronic, costly and, until now, without a satisfactory digital solution — that Carewell, a marketplace specialising in healthcare staff seeking flexibility, has set out to resolve.
Carewell’s value proposition is based on multi-platform software that combines two complementary components: management of the institution’s internal pool (Carewell Pool) and access to an external pool of qualified professionals (Carewell Work). Through a single channel and an intelligent matching algorithm, HR managers can identify the right candidate in just a few clicks — first from among their own staff, then, if necessary, from external professionals. This addresses a short-term healthcare recruitment market estimated at CHF 800 million in Switzerland, and a projected shortage of 40,000 professionals by 2040.
Co-founded by Josselin Meylan (CEO) and Soazig Olivin (Chief Healthcare Talent Officer), alongside Mathieu Dubois (CTO) and Fabian Mösli (AI & Product), Carewell has won over more than just investors. The company won the PERL 2025 Trophy — the Entreprendre Lausanne Region Award, worth CHF 50,000 — in recognition of both its technological innovation and its social impact. It also received CHF 150,000 in funding from Venture Kick to accelerate its development and launch a pilot scheme in German-speaking Switzerland, as well as a CHF 200,000 Digital Growth loan from the FIT to support its commercial and technological development.
