The Swiss Data Science Centre (SDSC), in partnership with the Canton of Vaud, is launching a new call for collaborative projects in data science and artificial intelligence. Apply before 31 October 2026.



With an annual budget of CHF 1.5 million until 2028, this programme is aimed at SMEs, start-ups, research institutes and public bodies in the canton working in the fields of health and biomedicine, social impact and digital transformation, or energy and sustainability. Successful projects will receive financial support as well as technical expertise from the SDSC. An initial round of calls has already supported five innovative projects, ranging from monitoring lake biodiversity to AI-assisted clinical support.



About the call for proposals

Led and supported by the Department for the Promotion of the Economy and Innovation (SPEI), the partnership between the Canton of Vaud and the SDSC was established in 2024 to embed data utilisation and artificial intelligence within the Vaud economy. To this end, we are launching a call for projects aimed at Vaud-based companies that hold data and wish to receive financial and technical support to launch an innovative, high-impact project.



Support

Two support options available, depending on the company’s AI maturity

  • Direct financial support granted by the canton (up to CHF 100,000)
  • Between 0.6 and 1.2 full-time equivalents (FTEs) from the SDSC in data science for a period of 6 to 12 months
  • Methodological and technical support, coaching

  • SMEs, start-ups and scale-ups registered in the Canton of Vaud
  • Academic/industrial consortia based in Vaud
  • Representatives of the cantonal public administration
