The Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Biomedicine (formerly the Novo Nordisk Prize) is awarded annually to a scientist in Europe who has made an outstanding contribution to advancing medical science.
The Prize is accompanied by DKK 5 million (+ CHF 600’000), of which DKK 4.5 million is a research grant and the rest a personal award.
The Prize was first awarded in 1963 as the Novo Prize, with the name changed in 1989 to the Novo Nordisk Prize. In 2026, it became the Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Biomedicine.
The Foundation welcomes nominations by individual researchers and by research institutions including academic and industrial institutions, and research funding agencies.
