A natural barrier which prevents tumors from metastasizing

EPFL scientists have discovered a natural barrier which prevents tumors from forming new tumors or metastasizing. 

Scientists from the Swiss BioInformatics Institute, from the University of Bern and the EPFL have teamed up to work on the effect of Activin B, which activates ALK7 receptors. Their worked has enabled them to discover that Activin B is a key element which helps prevent the proliferation of tumors and metastasis in cases of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors or breast cancer.
