This year, HUG have implemented Watson for Genomics: the search engine based on tumour genetic information
Watson for Genomics is now used by teams at HUG to support cancer treatment. IBM’s solution facilitates scientific publications’ review based on each tumour’s genetic information. Bringing research time down to 15 minutes, from the former 160 hours spent by geneticists specialized in oncology to manually review scientific articles.
The implementation of Watson for Genetics is a first in a European public hospital. 8 patients have benefited from this way of treatment since June 2019 at HUG. By summer 2020, up to 250 patients within the “Réseau romand d’oncologie” will receive treatment based on the artificial intelligence analysis provided by IBM’s solution.
