Biopôle SA, in collaboration with the Caisse de pensions de l’État de Vaud (CPEV) and Retraites Populaires, unveiled on 5 December 2025 the Leucine building, a state-of-the-art facility spanning 9,500 m². This milestone coincides with Biopôle SA’s 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of fostering innovation in life sciences within the canton of Vaud, and the Swiss Health Valley.
The inauguration event, graced by State Councillor Isabelle Moret and other dignitaries from the life sciences sector, marks a significant enhancement to the Biopôle campus, bridging its northern and southern areas. The Leucine building represents a partnership aimed at strengthening the regional economy.
Yves Froidevaux, President of CPEV, comments: “This new building is the fruit of an exemplary collaboration between our institution, Retraites Populaires and Biopôle SA, not to mention the support of the Vaud authorities.
For Raphaël Conz, Director of the SPEI and member of the Board of Directors of Biopôle SA, the inauguration symbolizes the strategic importance of Biopôle for the canton of Vaud: “Biopôle is an exceptional showcase for innovation in Vaud. The life sciences represent a key sector for the canton’s economy, and we are delighted with the close collaboration between the economic players Biopôle SA, CPEV and Retraites Populaires.
Initial tenants, including Sonic Suisse and Ma Crèche sous les Étoiles, will occupy the space starting in 2025. The building also includes 1,500 m² of service-oriented areas to support the growing Biopôle community.
Since its first building was completed in 2008, Biopôle has grown into a renowned hub with 10 buildings housing over 170 companies and academic institutions such as CHUV and UNIL. This vibrant ecosystem now supports more than 2,500 professionals. Under the leadership of Nasri Nahas and a renewed management team since 2015, Biopôle has embraced a community-centric vision, launching initiatives like StartLab, the Digital Health Hub, and acceleration programmes for emerging companies.
With the Leucine building, Biopôle reaffirms its dedication to advancing life sciences, nurturing innovation, and bolstering the Swiss Health Valley economy, all while preparing to meet the future demands of this dynamic sector.
