The Genolier Innovation Hub was inaugurated this Friday 27 September in canton of Vaud. With a CHF 100 million investment, the site aims at fostering innovation in healthcare in the Swiss Health Valley and internationally.
Positioned next to the Genolier clinic, the 25,000 square-meter building is designed to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between research, industry, and public and private hospitals both locally and internationally.
Spread over three floors, the facility offers state-of-the-art laboratories, offices, surgical rooms, radiotherapy bunkers, technical facilities, and a 300-seat auditorium. According to the hub’s director, Anna Gräbner, its mission is to accelerate the path from prototype development to patient care. The Hub aims to create a collaborative environment where research and industry seamlessly converge for real-world clinical applications. “This is more than a research center,” Gräbner emphasized, describing it as a platform where barriers between research, industry, and clinical practice are dismantled, promoting fluid interdisciplinary collaboration.
Addressing current and future healthcare challenge
The Genolier Innovation Hub is poised to lead a new global era in addressing current and future healthcare challenges. Focusing on medtech, pharmacology, digital technologies, and biosciences, this facility aspires to set the standard in healthcare innovation.
Oscar Matzinger, head of radio-oncology at Swiss Medical Network, highlighted the unprecedented collaboration between researchers and clinicians, stating that this synergy would enable faster development and adoption of medical technologies.
The official opening, attended by federal councillor Guy Parmelin, celebrated the completion of the facility after two and a half years of construction, costing CHF 100 million—CHF 65 million of which was for building expenses. Antoine Hubert, CEO of Aevis Victoria, the company behind the project, emphasized that the Hub symbolizes a shared vision where technology and clinical practice merge to enhance patients’ quality of life.
