The 23rd edition of the Prix Entreprendre Lausanne Région (PERL) took place on Wednesday 7 May, at Beaulieu-Lausanne, gathering around 300 leaders from politics, business, and academia. The prestigious Lausanne Région Trophy, worth CHF 50,000, was awarded to Carewell, a company based in Pully, for its innovative project at the intersection of technology and social impact. The Audience Award was presented to OptiZone, an Ecublens-based company focused on sports injury prevention.

A Win That Combines Innovation with Regional Impact

By securing the 2025 PERL Trophy, Carewell impressed a demanding jury composed of influential figures from across the public and private sectors. Beyond technical innovation, the company met key criteria such as economic viability, regional economic impact, and the potential to create and sustain local jobs.

“We are thrilled and pleasantly surprised to receive the PERL Trophy,” said Josselin Meylan and Soazig Olivin, co-founders of Carewell. “This recognition will help us further develop our digital solution. We’re grateful to Lausanne Région and our dedicated team—this award is truly a reflection of their talent and commitment to quality and reliability.”

Bridging Health Innovation and Social Need

Healthcare represents a major economic pillar in the Lausanne region and accounts for a significant share of local employment. Yet the sector continues to face a widespread shortage of medical staff, making the management of replacements both essential and highly complex.

Carewell’s winning solution directly addresses this challenge. The company developed an innovative digital platform that helps healthcare institutions optimize internal staffing resources and easily access qualified external professionals. The goal: streamline replacement processes and offer greater flexibility to healthcare staff—benefiting both providers and caregivers alike.

Innovation Awards for Emerging Startups

Alongside Carewell, three other companies were honored with Innovation Awards of CHF 10,000 each:

– Aerospec (Ecublens): Real-time analysis of the source of fine particles
– Hafnova (Lausanne): An agile cybersecurity solution
– OptiZone (Ecublens): Technology that helps prevent ligament injuries in sports

In addition, the Jury’s Special Mention (Prix coup de cœur) went to SaisiR (Lausanne) for its accessible digital interface empowering stroke survivors to regain autonomy in daily life.

Audience Award: Innovation with Popular Support

In addition to the five Jury-selected prizes, the PERL ceremony includes a CHF 10,000 Audience Award, giving a voice to both online voters and event attendees. This year’s Audience Award went to OptiZone for their innovative sensor technology aimed at preventing sports-related ligament injuries. The public engagement was strong, with over 800 online votes cast.
