FORUM Phage Therapy

The Forum Phage Therapy is taking place on 30 May 2026 in Lausanne with experts from UNIL, CHUV, EPFL and UNIGE

Antibiotic-resistant microorganisms are a problem for the healthcare sector. Phage therapy is a method that uses viruses, specifically phages, which are capable of attacking and destroying targeted bacteria. It can be used as a treatment when a suitable virus is identified for the bacterium responsible for the infection. In Switzerland, phages can currently only be used in emergency situations.

This event, organised by Forum Phagothérapie, invites you to explore the current challenges facing phage therapy. How can we best support patients with resistant bacterial infections? What role could phage therapy play? What measures should be taken to improve access to phage therapy in Switzerland? What are the main challenges to be addressed? These are just some of the questions that will be addressed during this discussion.
