The Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Life Sciences, awarded by the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation, honours exceptional scientists under 45 for groundbreaking contributions.
The 2024 recipient is Andrea Ablasser, professor at EPFL’s Global Health Institute, recognized for her pioneering work on the innate immune system, particularly the cGAS-STING pathway. Her research explores how this pathway contributes to chronic inflammation and neurodegeneration, paving the way for innovative treatments for age-related and inflammatory diseases.
Ablasser has a distinguished career with accolades such as the Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize, the EMBO Gold Medal, and the Paul Martini Prize. This award includes a €100,000 personal prize and celebrates her scientific impact and commitment to fostering collaboration in life sciences.
