MassChallenge Switzerland, part of the global MassChallenge network, announced the 103 early-stage startups selected for the 2025 accelerator programme. 11 Swiss Life Sciences projects are in the list.

Healthtech

Actival (Switzerland): Actival has a patented approach of directly manufacturing clear dental aligners with integrated microfluidic channels. These microfluidic channels act as reservoirs that slowly release beneficial antibacterial fluid, calcium and flavor during the aligner use, thus reducing the bacterial build up, creating a strong tooth enamel and a pleasant breath. This neutralizes plaque formation and tooth decay which are hindering the otherwise fast paced 6.3 bn$ aligner market.

Apersys AG (ZH): At Apersys, we are on the mission to overcoming organ shortage. We developed a long-term perfusion platform technology to address the pressing issue of organ shortage. Our device allows for the extended perfusion of livers for up to 7 days, enabling the recovery of otherwise unsuitable organs. Our platform holds promise for future applications, including extending its use to other organs and facilitating pre-clinical and clinical research as well as drug assessment.

Juvion Life Sciences (VD): Juvion Health Sciences is redefining healthy aging with science-backed therapeutics that target brain-muscle communication‚ a key factor in age-related immobility and diseases like sarcopenia and motor neuropathy. Born at EPFL and backed by a decade of neuroscience, our proprietary platform led to JUV-001, a clinically validated, plant-based supplement that helps people stay active, independent, and thriving longer.

MoleSense (NE): MoleSense advances women’s healthcare with molecular wearables‚ a new class of medical devices that go beyond tracking vital signs to continuously and non-invasively monitor biochemical markers such as proteins and hormones. By integrating personalized molecular data with biology-aware machine intelligence, our wearables provide proactive healthcare for high-risk pregnancies.

MYNERVA (ZH): MYNERVA is developing Leia, a smart wearable neuroprosthesis that restores lost foot sensation in people with peripheral neuropathy to improve balance and prevent falls. Unlike traditional treatments, Leia provides real-time, personalized sensory feedback during walking and chronic pain reduction. Our solution is clinically grounded, discreet, and designed for daily life‚ empowering patients to move confidently and safely again.

Rea Diagnostics SA (VD): Preterm birth is the #1 cause of neonatal death, yet risk tests today must be done by doctors in hospitals, limiting timely care. Rea Diagnostics is developing PremaSure: the first self-test women can use at home to detect preterm birth risk early. This unlocks broader access and faster intervention. Now in trials at Swiss university hospitals, we’re exploring go-to-market and reimbursement partnerships.

UNOMR (ZH): UNOMR, a techBio startup from ETH Zürich, is pioneering single-molecule protein modification analysis through their innovative serial nanopore sensor, currently with a focus on protein glycosylation. Adressing a US$ 60B market, their patented solution has far-reaching applications across healthcare, pharmaceutical development, and food science, offering a powerful new tool for therapeutic discovery and medical food product innovation.

Virtuosis AI (VD): Virtuosis AI, a spinoff from EPFL awarded Microsoft Startup of the Year 2023, develops AI-based voice biomarkers for mental, cognitive, respiratory, cardiovascular, and metabolic health.  Our AI, integrated into telemedicine and available as a standalone app, has the potential to detect over 20 diseases from a 30-second voice recording.  We currently collaborate with Swiss, French, Canadian, and Emirati hospitals to support diagnostics and patient monitoring.

Foodtech

Abrinca Genomics (BE) – The analysis of microbial genomes is vital for food, healthcare, agriculture, biotech and pathogen research, but bioinformatics is a crippling bottleneck. Abrinca’s software arx empowers biologists to analyze microbial genomes in minutes, not days. The solution slashes R&D times, boosts discovery and captures the fast-growing microbial genomics market.

ProSeed (VS) – ProSeed’s vision is to drive a more resilient food system. The company develops processing solutions that preserve the value of wet biomass, reducing the negative impact of the food industry. By unlocking the use of microwave technology for drying wet by-products into raw materials, ProSeed creates a circular and value-driven supply chain.

Synature (VD) – builds AI-powered sound systems that monitor animal health and presence in real-time across agriculture, aquaculture, and conservation. Its end-to-end platform cuts manual labor and provides insights 24/7. From pig disease to shrimp feed optimization and biodiversity tracking, Synature is creating the global nervous system for animal monitoring.
