Tech4Eva, Switzerland’s first start-up acceleration programme dedicated to women’s health (FemTech), has kicked off its fifth edition with a record-breaking 195 applications from 42 countries.
Among the 16 start-ups selected for this year’s 6-month program, four promising companies hail from Switzerland—further underscoring the country’s growing role in this dynamic sector.
This year’s Swiss cohort includes:
-
Menoqueens (Bern)
-
Molesense (Neuchâtel)
-
Powerly (Zurich)
-
Xemperia (Fribourg) – Winner of the BioInnovation Day 2023
These companies are developing innovative solutions in areas such as reproductive health, oncology, healthy aging, menopause, and maternal care, reflecting the broad spectrum of unmet needs in women’s health.
FemTech’s Global Momentum Continues
The FemTech sector is projected to reach $60 billion USD this year, with forecasts predicting it will double within the next eight years. Tech4Eva, founded by Groupe Mutuel and EPFL Innovation Park, continues to be at the forefront of this movement, helping to accelerate impactful innovations and bridge the gap between science and market-ready solutions.
According to Lan Zuo Gillet, Director of Tech4Eva at EPFL Innovation Park:
“We are delighted to see Tech4Eva’s growing global influence. This year, we selected more science-driven FemTech start-ups, especially those addressing women-specific cancers and other critical health conditions. We aim to foster stronger engagement between scientists and applied research to advance women’s health innovation.”
Supporting Science-Driven Start-Ups
Reflecting the need for greater gender equity in healthcare innovation, 87% of this year’s participating start-ups are women-led. The diversity of projects, from early ideas to revenue-generating companies, highlights the vibrant and still largely untapped potential of the FemTech sector.
“The gender data gap in medicine is finally getting the attention it deserves, but the potential for innovation remains huge. By supporting start-ups through Tech4Eva, we are helping to drive real change for women’s health worldwide,” adds Mariana Atilano Merinan, Head of Strategy, Innovation and Data at Groupe Mutuel.
The selected companies will participate in Tech4Eva’s six-month programme, gaining access to mentorship, investor connections, and tailored business support to accelerate their path to market.
