Adamant Innotech and CSEM develop a simultaneous diagnostic test for past COVID-19, flu and SRAS infections
On 9 April 2020, the Swiss startup Adamant Innotech and the CSEM announced working in collaboration towards the development of a rapid ultra-sensitive serological test able to determine whether an individual has been infected by the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) or by other types of viruses, in the past. The device will be based on a mature optical micro-network technology, already used for other medical applications. The new biosensor will provide results within 1 to 2 hours and will be able to detect up to 20 types of different infections simultaneously, such as COVID-19, SARS or the flu.
After the preparation of the biochips by CSEM’s Landquart center within the coming weeks, the system will be tested on a sample of patients by Adamant Innotech’s partner laboratories in China. If the tests are conclusive, Adamant Innotech will actively work towards the regulatory validation of the device to acquire relevant authorisations.
