The Fribourg-based group of private clinics and luxury hotels (Genolier, Generale-Beaulieu Clinic Geneva, etc.) recorded profits of CHF 12.2 million after six months in 2016, up from CHF 4.5 million.
Aevis Victoria posted a positive result in the first half of the year, with profits up almost threefold.Net sales also rose by 15.3% year-on-year to CHF 295.2 million, Aevis Victoria said in a statement on Friday. The company said it had benefited from the integration of the Générale-Beaulieu clinic in Geneva.
Two divestments generated a gain on investments of CHF 11.7 million: the 11.9% stake in LifeWatch was sold to BioTelemetry, and the minority stake in the Clinique des Tilleuls in Biel (BE) was sold to the Hirslanden Group. This increased profitability should continue and enable a higher distribution to shareholders to be proposed at the next general meeting, according to Aevis.
At the operational level, gross operating profit (EBITDA) amounted to just over CHF 42.9 million, compared with CHF 42.2 million a year ago. The corresponding margin was 14.5%, compared with 16.5% twelve months earlier. Normalised EBITDA, which excludes seasonal effects in the hotel segment, reached CHF 50.2 million, representing an EBITDA margin of 17%.
For the full 2017 financial year, Aevis expects to achieve revenue in excess of CHF 700 million. The Fribourg-based company also hopes to achieve normalised EBITDA of more than CHF 100 million.
