Antoine Geissbühler, President of BioAlps, Receives Prestigious International Award

BioAlps is proud to celebrate its President, Professor Antoine Geissbühler, who has been awarded the François Grémy Award of Excellence by the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).

 

This distinction, granted every two years, honors leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the field of medical informatics worldwide. Professor Antoine Geissbühler shares this year’s honor with Professor Charles Safran of Harvard University.

Currently Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva (UNIGE) and Chief Physician of the Division of eHealth and Telemedicine at the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG), Antoine Geissbühler has dedicated over 26 years to advancing digital health, medical informatics, and telemedicine.

His career includes:

  • Leading the Swiss eHealth strategy and UNIGE’s digital innovation initiatives.
  • Pioneering the RAFT project, a global telemedicine network connecting health professionals across 20 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America for nearly 25 years.
  • Founding and presiding over institutions shaping the digital health ecosystem, including the Geneva Digital Health Hub.

As President of BioAlps, Antoine Geissbühler continues to champion the life sciences ecosystem in Western Switzerland, fostering innovation and collaboration across academia, industry, and healthcare.
