Swiss medical technology company Autonomyo launches a CHF 550,000 crowdfunding campaign to supplement the CHF 1.4 Million already raised, in order to put Skywalk, a revolutionary rehabilitation device, on the market.

Every two seconds, someone in the world suffers a stroke. Every year, 15 million people are affected, and half of them never fully regain their ability to walk, not because they are incapable, but because their rehabilitation ends too soon. Swiss medical technology start-up Autonomyo wants to change that.

Based on research conducted at EPFL and CHUV, the company has created Skywalk, a new weight-bearing walking aid. The device allows patients to train safely and more intensively thanks to an anti-gravity and anti-fall suspension system. It is also a fundamental aid for physiotherapists, who can free themselves from supporting the patient and focus on assisting with movement.

‘Skywalk gives people hope, the opportunity to continue improving even after they leave hospital,’ explains Fabian Bischof, CEO and co-founder. ‘We have seen patients get up and walk again after months of immobility. It’s very moving.’

Skywalk is a new universal rehabilitation tool in the sense that it is designed for people with reduced mobility in general. This includes those with neurological disorders (affecting walking), the elderly and/or those with lower limb amputations. The added value is that it provides access to intensive and safe therapy in rehabilitation centres, physiotherapy practices and at home.

Skywalk is innovative in that it offers support without motors, electronics or batteries. In addition to being easy to use, this design makes it affordable for medium-sized clinics, physiotherapy practices, fitness centres for seniors and home-based patients.

Autonomyo has conducted around 20 tests with physiotherapists and patients in recent months and is preparing to launch Skywalk at the end of winter 2026 after a series of validations with rehabilitation centres in Switzerland, Italy and the United States. The company has already raised €1.4 million and is now raising €550,000 on the Capital Cell platform, which is aimed at the general public.
