CHF 1 billion for Vaud-based start-ups

07.02.2022

2021 was a record fundraising year for Swiss startups, according to the Swiss Venture Capital Report 2022.

The covid 19 pandemic did not slow down investments in Switzerland. And companies in the canton of Vaud have been particularly fortunate.

Vaud’s young tech firms pulled in CHF 604.6 million in venture capital. An additional CHF 307 million was raised through IPOs by Sophia Genetics (CHF 214 million) and Onward Medical (CHF 93 million). CHF 114 million is the size of the loan granted to MindMaze.

“It provides further proof that our innovation ecosystem has remained robust and resilient despite the pandemic, and it helps bolster the canton’s reputation as fertile ground for innovative, job-creating tech startups”, says Patrick Barbey, Director of Innovaud.

Nationwide, swiss start-ups managed to raise more than CHF 3.1 billion, versus CHF 2.1 billion in 2020.

The report Swiss Venture Capital Report 2022 was prepared by Startupticker.ch in partnership with the Swiss Private Equity & Corporate Finance Association (SECA) and startup.ch.
