CleantechAlps, the regional hub for clean technologies in Western Switzerland, is marking 15 years of dedicated support to sustainability and cleantech innovation. Launched in 2010 by the cantons of Western Switzerland, the platform has become a strategic catalyst for collaboration, promotion, and development across the cleantech ecosystem in Switzerland and Europe.
From its inception, CleantechAlps has pursued a bold, long-term vision structured in three phases: emergence (2010–2015), consolidation (2015–2020), and deployment (2020–2030). Over the last 15 years, more than 600 cleantech start-ups have emerged, raising nearly CHF 3 billion in total. The platform’s mission to “Connect – Promote – Support” has consistently driven innovation by facilitating impactful partnerships between start-ups, industry, research institutions, and public bodies.
To commemorate this milestone, CleantechAlps launched the campaign “15 Years – 15 Faces”, spotlighting 15 inspiring individuals who shape the cleantech sector daily—from entrepreneurs to researchers and policymakers. Their stories reflect the vibrant and diverse fabric of the region’s cleantech movement.
CleantechAlps also unveiled a series of infographics highlighting its measurable impact: over 1,000 qualified actors connected and more than 100 targeted matchmaking efforts annually, accelerating the growth of innovative projects and collaborations.
Looking ahead to 2035, CleantechAlps is reinforcing its ambition to position Switzerland as a global testing ground for scalable cleantech solutions. With the rising importance of ESG adoption and internationalization, the platform is committed to supporting the next wave of sustainable transformation.
“The rocket is launched. Our collective challenge is now to ensure sustainable propulsion—and we already have plenty of solutions,” said Eric Plan, Secretary General of CleantechAlps.
Alp ICT, BioAlps, CleantechAlps, and Micronarc are innovation clusters that promote excellence in Western Switzerland across four key sectors: digital technologies, life sciences, cleantech, and micro- and nanotechnologies, respectively.
