Thanks to the generous support of a private Geneva-based foundation, the Fondation privée des HUG is launching five new calls for projects in 2026, with a total funding envelope of CHF 10 million.



This major initiative aims to support projects led by teams from the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva, across a broad range of areas including:

  • Clinical, translational and fundamental research
  • Patient-centred initiatives
  • Care processes and quality improvement
  • Humanitarian and environmental projects



Who can apply?

All collaborators of HUG and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva, or projects developed in collaboration with them.



The 2026 calls include:

1. Quality of care & patient well-being
Supporting projects that improve patient comfort and quality of care across all medical fields.
➡️ Patient co-designed initiatives are strongly encouraged.
📅 Deadline: 30 April 2026, 5:00 PM

2. Patient-process research grants
Two grants for projects focused on improving care delivery, reducing medical errors, implementing best practices, and enhancing patient safety.
📅 Deadline: 19 March 2026, 5:00 PM

3. Support for the next generation of medical and care professionals
Helping clinicians and care professionals strengthen their academic pathways through protected time, research immersion, doctoral support, and postgraduate training.

4. Scientific Research – STARTER
Two grants of CHF 200,000 each to support clinical, translational, or fundamental research projects over 2 years.
📅 Deadline: 23 April 2026, 5:00 PM

5. Scientific Research – CONFIRM & CONFIRM-PRIORITY

  • Two CHF 600,000 grants for collaborative research projects over 3 years
  • One CHF 600,000 priority grant dedicated this year to “skeletal muscle and movement”
