Nose Switzerland is addressing malnutrition in cancer patients with taste and smell disorders. The project got a CHF 20,000 FIF Seed Impact Grant.

Developed in close collaboration with researchers from Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) and Université de Genève (UNIGE), Nose Switzerland addresses a pressing but often overlooked consequence of cancer treatment: chemosensory dysfunction. Patients who undergo radiotherapy or chemotherapy frequently experience alterations in taste and smell, increasing the risk of undernutrition, diminished appetite and impaired well-being.

Their solution combines an olfactory profiling kit with an intuitive digital application to identify the specific aromas and flavours that a patient can still enjoy. By mapping individual sensory preferences, the platform enables dietitians to tailor personalised nutrition plans that prioritise both pleasure and nourishment.

The FIF Seed Impact award will enable the project to extend its clinical trial and expand the reach of this chemosensory-guided nutrition platform.
