The Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (ASSM) is once again calling for nominations for , a distinction launched in 2018 to celebrate outstanding women in academic medicine and inspire the next generation.
Named after two trailblazing physicians — Lina Stern, the first female professor at the University of Geneva (1918), and Ruth Gattiker, one of the first female professors at the University of Zurich — this CHF 15,000 prize highlights role models who pave the way for greater gender equity in medicine.
Despite women representing 62% of medical graduates, they remain significantly underrepresented in senior academic positions. The Stern-Gattiker Prize aims to help close this gap by shining a spotlight on women physicians who lead, mentor, and inspire.
