Two Swiss Health Valley startups supported by Fondation pour l’Innovation Technologique (FIT) are tackling some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges: diagnosing sleep disorders and addressing critical staff shortages.
Undae Science: Making Sleep Monitoring Easier and More Accurate
Sleep disorders affect one in three people in Switzerland and cost the economy more than CHF 10 billion every year. Current hospital-based tests are intrusive, limited to a single night, and can disrupt natural sleep patterns—often delaying or distorting diagnosis.
Undae Science is rethinking the process with Noctae, a non-intrusive device that slips under the bed sheet to monitor sleep over several nights, directly at home. Connected to an AI-powered platform, Noctae transforms raw mechanical signals into clinically validated sleep indicators.
By improving early detection and access to care, Noctae not only supports more personalized treatments but also helps prevent long-term conditions linked to poor sleep such as cardiovascular disease, depression, and metabolic disorders.
With the support of a CHF 100,000 Tech Seed loan from FIT, Undae Science will advance Noctae’s prototype toward its first marketable product.
StudentsPool: Matching Students with Healthcare Institutions
Switzerland’s healthcare system faces a severe staff shortage that is expected to worsen dramatically by 2040. Meanwhile, many healthcare students end up working in unrelated sectors such as catering or logistics, despite having valuable skills that could support clinics and hospitals.
StudentsPool bridges this gap with a simple and intuitive platform. Healthcare institutions can post urgent replacement shifts or short-term assignments directly on the app, and students can apply with just a few clicks.
Already counting over 600 students, the StudentsPool community strengthens healthcare teams while providing students with income and relevant professional experience aligned with their studies.
Backed by a CHF 20,000 FIT Digital Grant, StudentsPool will now optimize its platform for large-scale deployment.
