The Viktor Award 2025, often referred to as the “Oscar of Swiss Healthcare,” returns for its fifth edition, honoring individuals and institutions that have made a significant impact on Switzerland’s health sector. Nominees are HUG’s project GESICA, Swiss Personalised Health Network, Pink Cube , ART-THERAPY Foundation and the Swiss Cancer Institute.
This year, several groundbreaking initiatives have been nominated, reflecting the diversity and dynamism of Swiss health innovation.
Among them, the HUG – Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève are nominated in the category “Most Audacious Organizational Development Initiative” for the GESICA project. Led by Prof. Thibaut Desmettre, GESICA aims to develop an AI-driven system capable of detecting, anticipating, and optimizing the management of exceptional health situations. Drawing lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, the system integrates hospital, societal, and meteorological data to enable early alerts and better crisis preparedness.
The Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) is recognized for laying the foundations of data-driven medicine in Switzerland. By building a national infrastructure for secure health data sharing and uniting hospitals and universities under common standards, SPHN has transformed personalized medicine from ambition into reality—delivering measurable impact on clinical decisions and research acceleration.
The Pink Cube – Test Your Breast initiative promotes early breast cancer detection through awareness campaigns and its annual nationwide roadshow. By empowering women with knowledge and encouraging screening, it strengthens prevention and improves survival outcomes.
The ART-THERAPY Foundation supports hospitalized newborns, children, and adolescents by integrating art therapies into care pathways. Backed by WHO research, these non-invasive approaches reduce stress, support emotional resilience, and contribute positively to long-term recovery.
Digital innovation is also represented through platforms like Trifact’s triApp® Bedside Service 2.0, which enhances patient-hospital interaction through real-time digital integration, streamlining workflows and allowing healthcare staff to focus on value-added care.
Finally, the Swiss Cancer Institute, an independent not-for-profit organization with over 60 years of commitment to clinical cancer research, continues to accelerate access to innovative, evidence-based therapies across tumor types.
The winners of the Viktor Award 2025 will be selected through a combination of jury and public votes and announced at the award gala on 12 March 2026 in Bern.
