This prestigious programme, supported by L’Oréal Switzerland, the Swiss Commission for UNESCO and the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences SATW, will reward four outstanding women scientists at the start of their careers each year, offering them financial support to carry out their research.
Women in science: a challenge to be met
Women scientists play a key role in global research, making major discoveries in many fields. Yet they remain under-represented: they account for just 33.3% of researchers worldwide, and less than 4% of Nobel Prizes in science have been awarded to them.
Faced with these inequalities, the L’Oréal Foundation and UNESCO have been working for over 20 years to promote women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), offering them recognition and financial support. The launch of this program in Switzerland aims to encourage female talent and support their research projects.
A tailor-made programme for Swiss women researchers
The Swiss program will offer four talented female researchers the opportunity to pursue their research in STEM fields. The selected candidates will receive an endowment of 25,000 CHF, which they can use to finance their research projects.
Applications are open until 31 March 2025, offering young female researchers a unique opportunity to enhance their work and accelerate their career paths.
